1. Purpose of SMS Communication
Soul Spring Psychiatry uses SMS messaging solely for patient-authorized, administrative, and non-clinical communication. Text messages may include:
• Appointment reminders, confirmations, or cancellations
• Requests to complete intake, consent, or medical forms
• Follow-up scheduling or rescheduling notifications
• Telehealth access instructions
Insurance or billing-related updates (non-PHI)
• Secure links to the HIPAA-compliant patient portal
• General practice information such as office hours or availability
No diagnoses, treatment recommendations, medication instructions, or any protected health information (PHI) will ever be sent via SMS.
2. Who We Text
SMS messages are sent only to:
• Established patients who have opted in
• New patients who provide their mobile number and opt in
• Patients who request text reminders
We do not send unsolicited messages or text purchased lists.
3. Initiation of SMS Communication
Soul Spring Psychiatry may initiate SMS messages for administrative purposes. Patients may also text the business line with scheduling or administrative questions. Responses remain strictly non-clinical.
4. Content of Messages

SMS communication may include:
• Scheduling and appointment reminders
• Requests to complete documents within the patient portal
• Telehealth instructions
• Insurance or billing-related updates
General office information
No PHI or clinical advice will be communicated via SMS.
5. Opt-In and Opt-Out
By providing your mobile number and agreeing to receive text messages, you consent to SMS communication from us. You may opt out at any time by replying “STOP.” After opting out, messages will cease unless you opt in again.
6. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies depending on appointment activity and administrative needs. Typical frequency is 1-5 messages per month.
7. Message and Data Rates
Standard message and data rates may apply. Soul Spring Psychiatry is not responsible for carrier charges.
8. Privacy
Soul Spring Psychiatry respects your privacy. SMS is not used for PHI. Sensitive information is transmitted only via our HIPAA-compliant portal. For full privacy details, refer to our practice privacy policy.
9. No Emergency Use
SMS is not for emergencies. For urgent concerns, call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room.
10. Limitation of Liability
Soul Spring Psychiatry is not responsible for delayed, failed, or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on mobile carriers.
11. Changes to These Terms We may revise these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated versions will be posted with a revised effective date.
